Application Information

Ph.D. and Master, Application Period: July 16, 2024 – September 04, 2024 (Untill 16:00 p.m)

English Proficiency Exam: September 9-10 , 2024 (For the applicants of a master’s degree without English language certificate).  Click here for detailed information. 

Written and Oral Exams: September 13, 2024.  Written (10:00 a.m.) and oral (13:30) exams (Ankara time)

Final Registration Date: September 23-24, 2024

Exams are conducted only for the Ph.D. programs and some of the master degree programs; details are given in the Admission Criteria tab.

Requirements for Graduate Degree Programs (for foreign applicants)

1. ALES certificate is not required for foreign applicants.
2. An at most 5 year old YDS or equivalent, YÖKDİL, KPDS, ÜDS, TOEFL IBT, CAE, CPE, PEARSON PTE Academic, FCE or Cankaya the University’s proficiency exam certificate is required for the master’s degree and Ph.D. programs in English; Applicants to master’s degree programs are exempt from this requirement if they are Cankaya University graduates. Ph.D. program candidates are required to have an at most 5 year old YDS or equivalent, YÖKDİL, KPDS, ÜDS, TOEFL IBT, CAE, CPE, PEARSON PTE Academic, FCE certificate. (Home Edition Exams are not accepted.)

Academic departments hold the right to change requirements. It is recommended to check the requirements before apply.

*I. Degree in a four-year bachelor program for the master program applicants; and master with thesis degree for the Ph.D. program applicants 

II. Degree in a four-year bachelor program in Engineering, Economics and Administrative Sciences, all departments in Architecture and Agriculture Faculties, and Science departments of Science and Literature Faculties

III. Degree in a four-year bachelor program in Interior Architecture, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Architecture, City and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design, Industrial Product Design, and Industrial Design

IV. Degree in a four-year bachelor program in Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical- Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Automation Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Control Engineering, Energy Systems Engineering, Artificial Intelligence Engineering, Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, Software Engineering, Aircraft Engineering, and Space Engineering

V. Degree in a four-year bachelor program in City and Regional Planning, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Economics, Public Administration and Political Science, Sociology and other programs in the discipline

VI. Degree in a four-year bachelor program in all departments of Engineering and Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology and Genetics Departments of Faculty of Arts and Sciences

VII. For master program, degree in a four-year bachelor program in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Industrial Product Design.

For Ph.D. program, degree in a four-year bachelor program in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Industrial Product Design and master degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, and City and Regional Planning

VIII. Degree in bachelor program in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Electrical Engineering

IX. Degree in bachelor program in Civil Engineering

X. Degree in a four-year bachelor or master degree in City and Regional Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, and Landscape Architecture, Economics, Public Administration, Political Science, Sociology, Civil Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, Geodesy and Photogrammetry Engineering, and Geography programs

XI. Degree in a four-year bachelor program in all departments of Engineering Faculty, Faculty of Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Statistics departments of Faculty of Arts and Sciences, all departments of Faculties of Architecture, all departments of Technical Education Faculties, Labor Law departments of Faculty of Law, and graduates of  universities’ Occupational Health and Safety programs

XII. Degree in a four-year bachelor program in Mathematics, Mathematics and Computer Science, and all engineering programs

XIII. Degree in a four-year bachelor program in all departments of Engineering for thesis program and any four-year bachelor program for a non-thesis program

For Ph.D. program, master degree in all departments of Engineering

XIV. Students from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Communication Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Science will be accepted.

• Documents to upload (for foreign applicants):

1- Official transcript (undergraduate and master’s transcripts for Ph.D., undergraduate transcript for Master’s program applicants)

2- English Language certificate (at most 5 years old i.e. certificates obtained on and after July 16, 2019 will be considered for English-medium degree programs; there is no time limitation for Turkish Ph.D. programs).

3-Bank receipt of the application fee. The fee  for the foreign applicants *** $ is to be deposited to TR 2800 0150 0158 0072 6042 9262 bank account through Vakıfbank’s Meşrutiyet Branch.

4- CV, letter of intent, and two reference letters are required for the Ph.D. program candidates. Reference letters are generated via the application system on https://onbasvuru.cankaya.edu.tr.

Assessment of the applications

• Applicant’s GPA in the bachelor degree program and a valid English certificate are the criteria in the admission to programs without thesis option.
• The following criteria apply in the assessment of the applicants to the Ph.D. and master’s degree programs with thesis.

1. ALES

Turkish applicants must score the lower bound (55) for master programs and lower bound (60) for doctoral programs in ALES. The submission of ALES score is not necessary for foreign applicants.

2. English Proficiency Exams

*Master in Interior Architecture program requires 60, C and 72 in YDS, CAE and TOEFL (IBT), respectively.
